Sweden´s Side Event - HLPF 2022 - The power of partnerships: inclusion, equality and change for sustainable oceans
Programme: • Introduction to the webinar will be made by Formas’ Director General Ingrid Petersson. She is the Chairperson of the Swedish Committee for the UN Decade of Ocean Science and has been the chair of the Swedish Delegation for the 2030 Agenda. • Opening speech by Jenny Ohlsson, State Secretary for International Development Cooperation • Keynote speech by David Obura, Founding Director of CORDIO East Africa, a knowledge organization supporting sustainability of coral reef and marine systems in the Western Indian Ocean. • Interview with Gerdn Aso Hossein who 16 years old co-founded and developed a local Climate Youth Forum in a suburb to Stockholm, where kids and youth learn about climate issues and co-create to find solutions. • Panel discussion including questions from the audience. The panel will discuss key enabling factors for mobilizing engagement and funding for the oceans while strengthening ownership and participation. - Dr Essam Mohammed, Interim Director General WorldFish and CGIAR Acting Senior Director of Aquatic Food Systems - Dr Ingela Isaksson, Senior Analyst at the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, coordinating the Swedish Ocean Platform to End Poverty. - Mats Djurberg, Director at the Swedish National Maritime Museum and associated partner to the UN Decade of Ocean Science. - Malin Leth, Corporate Partnership Manager at Keep Sweden Tidy Foundation, leading a market transformation initiative for plastic-free oceans and focusing on participatory governance and regenerative processes • Summary and reflections live from a youth perspective by Alexander Dürr, Swedens Youth Representative to the UN, working specifically with Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals. • Concluding remarks by Formas’ Director General Ingrid Petersson
